HABAU acquires PUDU from SCHMACHTL.
HABAU is considered one of the most innovative construction companies in Austria. It's no wonder that they also think further ahead than others when it comes to facility management. That's why for several months now, the PUDU CC1 powered by SCHMACHTL has been ensuring cleanliness in the corridors of the company's headquarters in Linz.
In the headquarters of HABAU there are 8,500 m2 of office space with very large corridors. Actually a clear case for the external cleaning company, if it weren't for the memorable encounter at CMS 2023 between HABAU Facility Manager Christian Lainer and Patrick Hinterholzer, Head of the 'Mobile Robotics' department at SCHMACHTL. They discussed the advantages of floor cleaning robots and immediately agreed on a date for a presentation.
Christian Lainer:
"We looked at several providers before. For us, it was particularly important to have only one device in the building. It should communicate with the elevator, change floors and areas by itself, and require as little human interaction as possible for its cleaning tasks or floor changes. That was also the main reason for choosing the PUDU CC1 and SCHMACHTL."
Cleans floors of all kinds
The PUDU cleaning robot has been working at HABAU for several months now and is affectionately called 'HABBY' by everyone, a combination of 'HABAU' and 'Happy'. In fact, even the employees of the external cleaning company appreciate it. They can now focus on other, more demanding tasks while the PUDU independently cleans polished screed as thoroughly and gently as carpeted floors. At a docking station in the basement, it changes the water and charges its battery. Then the PUDU takes the elevator back up and continues its work. The question of profitability remains.
PUDU gets a night shift
According to HABAU's amortization calculation, it only takes 11.8 months for the PUDU to 'clean in' the costs. In other words: the cleaning robot will have a secure job at HABAU in the future as well. The next step is currently planning to shift its working hours to the night. However, before that, the HABAU alarm system needs to be convinced that the PUDU is not a threat. Patrick Hinterholzer: "That's why the PUDU will be able to communicate directly with the alarm system in the future and clean the entire building all night without disturbing anyone."
