SCHMACHTL has successfully completed another battery energy storage project for EV truck charging infrastructure.

With the successful commissioning of seven SCHMACHTL EStore battery energy storage systems (total capacity 1.7 MWh / 700 kW) for an Austrian packaging company, SCHMACHTL is making another important contribution to the development of high-performance energy infrastructure supporting the electrification of heavy-duty transport in Austria.

Together with our project partner, we implemented a battery energy storage solution that enables the reliable and cost-efficient operation of the company's electric truck fleet.

The first phase of the project includes seven utility-scale battery energy storage systems, which were successfully commissioned this week. Following the testing phase, the installation will be expanded to a total of 18 battery energy storage systems.

The solution enables the company to store surplus electricity generated by its on-site photovoltaic (PV) system and use it flexibly to charge its electric truck fleet whenever required. By decoupling energy generation from energy consumption, the system increases on-site solar self-consumption while ensuring a reliable energy supply for the charging infrastructure.

Battery energy storage systems are becoming increasingly important for commercial vehicle fleets. They provide the power required for high-performance charging, reduce peak demand and maximise the use of renewable energy.
